Working with External JavaScripts in Spotfire

We’re going to be talking about this Blackjack template we made for the next couple blogs, because we used just about every trick in the book.

Let’s say in a text area you are using an external JavaScript library like:

<script src="https://deck-of-cards.js.org/dist/deck.min.js"></script>

And then immediately trying to reference said JavaScript library? You might have some trouble. You’ll either need to setup an AJAX call or find another way to load the script ahead of time.

The simplest way we’ve found was to make the call on an ‘Introduction’ page. Spotfire will actually preserve the libraries called on the first page when you move to the second, where it is referenced.

Enjoy!
